Jesus Place

Jesus Place Mission originated in late 1969 through the efforts of several area preachers and other Christians. In May of 1970 three women began an outreach to the "hippies" and other people on the streets and in the parks of Midtown Atlanta. A room was rented in a our on Juniper Street, later on 12th Street, and was operated by Christian volunteers as a coffee house, known as "Jesus Place of Peace". In the first few years several hundred young people were baptized into Christ and influenced to return to their homes.

In the past five years (1994-1999) over 5000 homeless people have received food, clothing, shoes, hygiene kits, blankets, and Bibles and have heard the Gospel at Longley Avenue. 202 have been baptized into Christ and 110 have come to repent and renew their faith.

Next SCC support day 11/29/2009: We meet at the church at 8:15 AM to carpool down. Contact Dennis Bass for details.
